Upcoming Topics

I’ve been fairly busy contemplating life and working as of late. There are a number of topics I’m intending to write about over the next month or so, so I thought I would let you know what’s upcoming. If there are any topics you’d like me to cover, let me know. Some, of course, take more research and thought than others.

Church Tradition: Not to be confused with Traditional Church. The church has a rich tradition of history and writers over the past 2000 years, which is too often overlooked.

Churches: Traditional, Emergent, Charismatic, etc. I grew up in a Pentecostal house church, but I’ve known great Christians from all types of churches. Honestly, I get uncomfortable with ‘We’re doing it right, you’re doing it wrong’ debates, which these discussions sometimes end up being.

Tolkien: The last several years, I’ve spent quite a bit of time with Tolkien’s books, books about him, the films, and modern middle earth (NZ). His books are a prime example of Christian imagination. I’m going to start with Ringwraiths.

Christians in the Marketplace: Too often, what we hear about what it means to live as a Christian in the business world (as in, most Christians) comes from Christians who are not in the business world. It is also sometimes to compartmentalized in the way we talk about it. So, I’ll give my perspective as a Christian in the marketplace.

The Spiritual Disciplines: Celebration of Discipline will be the foundation of this discussion. The spiritual disciplines include meditation, prayer, solitude, simplicity, fasting, and others. There is much about them that are counter-cultural, and a rich Christian history behind them. They are also meaning a lot in my life right now.

There will be other topics along the way…
